It's a Pillow, It's a Pet
It's a Pillow Pet!
Carly had requested a unicorn Pillow Pet from Santa. She has been asking for a Pillow Pet since the first time she saw the infomercial. The type of pet changes but never the request for the Pillow Pet.
When she came downstairs Christmas morning, she saw the Pillow Pets and scanned them quickly for hers. She picked up her penguin, looked at me and said, "I'll get over it." I nearly started to cry. The first thing out of my child's mouth on Christmas morning is "I'll get over it."?!?!
I excused myself to consult Santa. Santa insisted that he didn't know she cared so much and promised to look in his workshop as soon as he got back to the North Pole. He would have the elves make the correct one and bring it back. I didn't tell her, in case the elves had all left for the season and there were no unicorns to be found.
Carly continued to open her presents. She seemed to forget about the penguin until bedtime. Then she said again, 'I'll get over it.' She was killing me!
MY CHRISTMAS IS RUINED!!!!
(family joke)
Santa got back to the North Pole realized his mistake and made a special trip back to leave it under the tree. He left Carly a note of apology. She was so excited and the unicorn Pillow Pet holds a special place on her dresser. I haven't seen the penguin since.

Zhu Zhu Pets
Jensyn really liked the Zhu Zhu pets that they got for Christmas. She would send them off around the house and then go collect them all.

It snowed on Christmas and I had let the cat out and made her stay out for a while. When she came in she shook off the snow onto the carpet, making the carpet wet.
Jensyn came downstairs and started up all the Zhu Zhu pets. She was gathering them up and couldn't find one. It got stuck by the back door. She ran over to get it and as she picked it up her hand touched the wet carpet. She brought the Zhu Zhu pet over to me saying, 'Oh No, it peed!"
I guess she has heard the girls blame her for every wet spot in the house and thought she could share the blame with someone new.

Christmas
The stockings were hung by the chimney.
The tree was up and decorated.
The carrots for the reindeer, cookies and milk for Santa were all laid out. Scratch that, sorry Santa, no milk.
I was up before the kids and saw that Santa had left Pillow Pets, but unfortunately he didn't take the pet on the pillow.
Leighton got the Baby Alive she wanted.
And the Legos.
But no Go Go my walking pup. Santa left her a note on the tree. It said that he thought that her dog, Gus, would prefer her to play with him. She seemed satisfied with that.
Carly got her Wii Fit Plus.
And her Winter Games.
And Jensyn got her Little People.
Santa also brought them a new t.v. for upstairs. He must have felt bad for them. They have been watching a 20 year old tiny t.v.
Both sets of Grandparents gave Zhu Zhu pets along with many other things.
My favorite game that Carly got was a tie between Michael Jackson's Experience (I know you recognize the glove) or Disney's Sing It Pop Star (the microphone). We could be entertained for hours.
And Aunt Coree sent the girls some gloves and socks. They weren't sure which these were.
I helped them figure it out. I think Leighton was a little disappointed. She was really hoping for some evening gloves.
Carly got her Wii Fit Plus.

'Cause My Grandpa likes to be Crazy
The girls got to shop at their school's Santa Shop for their families. They were so excited to give their carefully picked out presents to their recipients.
Leighton gave Grandma a fancy necklace, because she likes to get dressed up and be fancy.
She was so excited for Grandpa to open his.
It was the first thing she picked out. (I have spies EVERYWHERE!)
She picked this crazy hat, because 'Grandpa likes to be crazy.'
It even lights up!
Carly was a little more conservative in her picks. She bought Grandpa a candle holder
You put wax melts in the top and a tea light in the bottom.
She bought Grandma these cute polar bear plates.
Grandma loved them.
Jensyn was very upset that she didn't have anything to give to them. She kept saying
'What me give? Where my presents? What me give? Where my presents?'
Then she walked around with a pout similar to this.

School's Out for the Year
This snow
caused the county to close school for two days. So the girls missed out on their Christmas parties at school as well as pajama day. They were a little disappointed. I was a lot disappointed. I have been working on the teacher gifts for three full days. I decided at the last minute to make them these countdown blocks.
Miss Potts likes pink, so I made hers with pink letters and numbers.
The sets ready for packaging.
And here they are all packaged with the poem I wrote.
(Out here we are not too crafty and I wasn't sure if they would know what to do with them.)
Here is my poem:
We are always counting down
To one thing or another,
Christmas Break, vacation days,
The birthday of your brother.
Turn these blocks to the number,
of remaining days.
Change it daily, and then you'll see,
when no day remains.
The day is here. Hooray, Hurrah!
Now you can rejoice!
And start again the countdown,
To the next thing of your choice.
Monday is a teacher workday. I will try to take them over then and hope that some of the teachers are there.

Cookie Party
The girls hosted their annual cookie party with their friends. We had grown by a few friends and needed to move to the empty dining room. Amanda loaned me her folding tables and some plastic chairs. It was a tight fit, but it worked out well.
Madison helped Jensyn decorate hers.
I think.
Then they moved on to colored sugar. I think it is their favorite. They ask for a color and I make it. They think I am magic.
Carly intent, as always.
She is very proud of her masterpieces.

Leighton would't stay still long enough for anyone to take a picture of her.

Santa WUZ Here!
The girls had a wonderful Christmas. It started on Christmas Eve. Grandma and Grandpa Young came over and brought cold cuts and Cherry-O-Cheesecake for dinner YUM!
The girls opened a present, Kerplunk!, and we played!
We watched Santa on NORAD and about the time he reached South America, Leighton started to get concerned that he wouldn't come if they weren't in bed. She and Carly started begging to go to bed. They fell asleep quickly and I think I heard hooves on the roof before I went to bed.
The next morning the Carly came down and was so happy to see that Santa had finally arrived. I took mostly video of the girls opening their presents and Blogger does not like my videos. I will try to upload some this week, but wanted to get this post done before the new year.
Jensyn got a kitty that purrs when you pet it. She has played with Leighton's until the batteries are dead. She loved it and her new baby doll. She wouldn't hardly stay still for me to take any pictures. She tucked one under each arm and was off.

I think Santa is not making good decisions in his old age. He brought TWO water toys to the girls. Leighton got the Polly Pocket Roller Coaster that splashes and Carly got the Barbie Salon that you wash the Barbie's hair. Maybe Santa better think long and hard next year.
Leighton and Carly were so cute to share each other's presents.
They really enjoyed the Barbie Camp Out Trailer.
So did Jensyn. But, when she was enjoying it, they didn't like it. She got kicked out of everywhere. Poor Baby! Look at that scowly, crying face!
The aftermath!
As usual Santa, Mom, Dad and Grandparents went overboard.
Then the girls headed to Grandma and Grandpa Young's for more presents.
I think this is a present for me. too. No more bending over to push Jensyn on the big girl trike.

Christmas Lights
The entire gang headed out to The Meadow Lights last night. Do you think eight is enough? Jensyn will make it nine next year.
(l-r)Top Row: Jordan V, Madison R, Makenna H, Taylor V, and Ryan R
Bottom Row: Leighton, Riley H, and Carly.

Carly enjoying the carousel.
We left Meadow and headed to Lake Myra in Wendell. We didn't take any pictures, but that was only because we were enjoying the show so much, I forgot. A sweet gentlemen has decorated his and a couple of his neighbors' homes with over 220,000 lights. He then programs them to music and broadcasts it so you can listen on your car radio. It is absolutely amazing. We missed the magic show and Santa, but we won't next year. We have already planned; lawn chairs, blankets and dinner. Can't wait!
* Leighton informed me after I posted, "I am NOT going to marry Jordan. I am going to marry Camden. After I die and Jordan dies then we can play together, in heaven, with Jesus."
I hope that is a VERY long time from now.
